OnFOODS

Research and innovation network on food and nutrition Sustainability, Safety and Security - Working ON Foods

Description

OnFOODS is an Italian research and innovation network dedicated to nutrition and the food system. It operates as a coordination hub for seven thematic Spokes, each focused on a specific domain, but integrated into a synergistic effort to pursue common objectives related to food safety and quality, nutrition, and the prevention of malnutrition.

In particular, Spoke 06, “Tackling Malnutrition,” led by Professor Hellas Cena of the University of Pavia, is oriented toward the development of nutritional strategies targeting the most vulnerable segments of the population, such as individuals with diseases and the elderly. The goal is to ensure adequate nutrition and prevent conditions of malnutrition that can reduce resilience and exacerbate frailty.

Within this Spoke, our laboratory contributes to the development of mobile applications aimed at supporting the improvement of dietary habits in at-risk populations, including children with obesity, adults with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), and elderly individuals exposed to the risk of malnutrition.

Project funded under the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Mission 4, Component 2, Investment 1.3 – Call No. 341 of March 15, 2022, issued by the Ministry of University and Research, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
